Mailchimp

Mailchimp is an email marketing platform organized around audiences. Connect it to send contacts into an audience and import members.

What you can do

  • Send — add or update a contact in a specific Mailchimp audience, with field mapping.
  • Import — pull members from any audience into OpenContact.
  • Suppression — because Mailchimp has no global unsubscribe, OpenContact unsubscribes a contact across every audience they belong to.

How to connect

  1. In Mailchimp, create an API key (Account → Extras → API keys). The key includes your data-center suffix (e.g. -us5).
  2. In OpenContact, go to Connections → Mailchimp and paste it.
  3. Your audiences load automatically for targeting in rules.

Good to know

Every Mailchimp contact lives inside an audience, so a Mailchimp destination in a sync rule must target a specific audience. Pick one when you add the destination.

In a sync rule

Add Mailchimp as a destination, choose the audience, and map fields (e.g. first_name → FNAME). See Sync rules.
