Importing contacts

OpenContact isn’t just a one-way pipe. Any connection that supports reading can pull contacts in, so you can bring an existing audience into OpenContact and start routing it.

How to import

  1. Connect the tool (see Connections) and let its lists load.
  2. On the connection, choose a list/audience (or, for CRMs, a filter or the whole book) and start an import.
  3. OpenContact streams every contact from that list and ingests it — running the same pipeline as any other lead: email verification, list membership, and your sync rules.

Imported contacts are tagged with a source named after the provider, so you always know where they came from.

What can be imported

Tool typeWhat you pull
ESPs (Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Brevo, MailerLite, Mailjet, beehiiv, Kit, GetResponse, AWeber, Constant Contact, Ghost)Members of a list, audience, newsletter, form, or tag
CRMs (HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Copper, ActiveCampaign)Contacts/people (all, or a filtered view)
CalendlyBooking invitees
Google SheetsRows of a spreadsheet, mapped by column header
AirtableRecords of a table, mapped by field name
StripeCustomers with an email address

Two-way in practice

Because importing runs contacts through your rules, you can do things like: pull leads from HubSpot, verify them, and fan the clean ones out to your ESPs — or pull Calendly bookings and add each new invitee to a welcome list. See each tool’s page in the Integrations index for specifics.

Real-time vs bulk

Importing pulls a snapshot on demand. Google Sheets, Airtable, and Calendly resources can also be set to auto-pull every 15 minutes from the Connections page. Stripe polls new customers every five minutes and reconciles existing customers daily; configured Stripe webhooks can refresh payment and customer changes in real time. For tools that push events—such as Calendly, Custom Webhook, and Google Ads Lead Form—OpenContact can receive contacts in real time instead.
